Right now, families in money chaos are struggling to put food on the table for their families.

“Before CAP, we were in a financial crisis. We were on edge about everything.”

Violet & Fotu are hard-working parents with a young family. They went through a time of upheaval – moving to a new town, followed by a job loss. The loss plunged them into a spiral of debt.

“We were living off $40 a week… I would buy flour to make bread, with water. That was breakfast, lunch and dinner…

Winter was especially hard. They had left all their furniture behind in the move, so they didn’t even have a bed. Plus, their new house was cold, and mouldy.

We were literally sleeping on the floor. We had just a few blankets… only body heat for warmth.

Friend, will you give today to help the next family like theirs? Your gift before 31st July will put your compassionate heart into action, so another family like Violet & Fotu’s can stay warm and well-fed this winter.

Violet & *Fotu tried hard to get on top of their financial situation – but they were away from the support of family. Violet shares, “I was depressed at one point.” And the compounding stress drove the couple to argue – especially on payday.

Sadly, Violet and Fotu’s struggle is all too common… hundreds of New Zealanders reach out to CAP every month for help.

Then one day, a CAP Coach happened to stop by Violet’s work… Violet asked if they could get help – and that’s when everything started to change.

The CAP Team created a personalised Money Plan for the family, which prioritised their essential needs. CAP negotiated with the couple’s creditors and provided a way for them to repay their debt using their own income.

And as Violet & Fotu began their journey out of debt, their local CAP Coach and his church were right alongside them. The Coach brought the family a nutritious food parcel… and the church helped out by donating much-needed furniture – including a bed!

As the couple continued to meet with their Coach, his prayers became a treasure:

“I needed it, I had a longing for prayer… My faith is still growing. This journey changed me spiritually…it moulded me to be who I am today.”
