Day after day, families in huge debt struggle to put food on the table for their families.

Before CAP – we were in a dark place. Struggling to get by. Mentally, broken. Sioeli

Sioeli & Saane, hard-working parents to four children, learned to be content with eating instant noodles and cheap cereal. Dreading winter…just the hardest time”.

Sioeli is a carpenter and Saane is a nurse. Car loans on top of other debts put them under pressure. Then a simple admin error plunged them into huge debt.

I never thought we were going to get to that place where we need to look for help. Surely the debt will sort of just disappear, I’d thought. But no, this was a biggie

Friend, you can show your care by practically helping families to be warm and well-fed this winter. Your gift will ensure that another family like Sioeli and Saane’s can access the free support they need.

Online donations are powered by Pushpay and are secure.

When you give today, you’ll ensure a family receives a free, professional, caring service:

Free Debt Help support: An offer of karakia/prayer from the very first interaction/call. A CAP Coach visit to people’s home.

On-going support: from the CAP Team, who craft a budget that prioritises essentials like food, rent, and power that is updated as circumstances and needs change.

A hands-on journey: of learning to budget and save, which helps build life-changing financial habits (for today and for the next generation).

Long-term CAP support: expertise, advocacy and prayer as people work towards freedom from unmanageable debt.

An emergency food parcel, or other practical assistance as needed.

Wrap-around care from the local church, who walks alongside each person.

Another way to give: via bank transfer or phone

Sioeli and Saane were receiving constant emails and phone calls from their creditors . Deep in a hole of debt, they became mentally and physically “stressed out” . With four growing kids to feed and clothe, the bills just kept mounting up.

Before CAP’s help, family situations like Sioeli and Saane’s are sadly all too common.

Before receiving CAP’s help:

  • 4 out of 5 couldn’t afford healthy food and half skipped meals
  • 3 out of 10 couldn’t afford to heat their home in Winter
  • 9 out of 10 said debt affected their mental health

As Sioeli and Saane began their journey out of debt, local CAP Coach Alan, along with his church, were right there beside them. Alan brought the family food parcels and firewood – warming their home and filling the fridge with nutritious food.

Will you donate today to help another New Zealand family like Sioeli and Saane’s – to put good food on their table and bring light and hope to their “dark place”?

Your generosity – in partnership with CAP and the local church – provides the support individuals and whānau need to become financially resilient.

CAP’s free practical help takes a ‘with Jesus’ approach – so when Sioeli reached out from that “dark place”, he found renewed hope:

“That first call… now I’m going to cry! Because the lady that picked up the phone, before she wanted to talk about everything else, she decided to pray. That was heartwarming.

As soon as she started the prayer, I knew I was at the right place at the right time…It lifted that burden off our shoulders.”

“It made it lighter knowing that we won’t be taking the journey alone.
