What does CAP Debt Help do with my personal information?
Collecting your information
CAP collects your personal information so that we can contact you, identify you and work out how we can help you.
Using your information
CAP uses your information to make decisions about the best way to help you, such as when building a budget for you or when negotiating with anyone that you owe money to. We may use information about you to help us design new tools or services, or to analyse how CAP clients are affected by debt. When we use your information, we will not identify you personally except when we are directly helping you.
Sharing your information
Sometimes CAP needs to share your information with people or organisations outside of CAP. We share your information when the reason for sharing it is the same as the reason we collected it, if we have a specific legal reason, or if you give us permission to share it.
Respecting your information
CAP is committed to respecting your information and keeping it safe. We have systems and safeguards in place to control how we collect, manage and use your information. This helps us to use your information appropriately and keep it safe.
Retaining your information
CAP has automated processes to remove your information from our systems if we haven’t had any interactions with you for defined periods of time.
Managing your information
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, you can call us on 0508 227 111 or email us at info@capnz.org or by writing to Policy Officer, PO Box 12041, Penrose, Auckland 1642, New Zealand
