Help New Zealanders in money chaos to thrive

CAP’s Auckland Summer Fundraiser is a unique, relaxed opportunity to hear about the work of Christians Against Poverty. Enjoy dessert and cheese — and see how you can enable impact for families across Aotearoa.

CAP clients, Wai and Andre, will be present to share their story of journeying alongside CAP to become free from unmanageable debt:

“Before CAP… not enough for milk or bread. Today – the money knowledge in our kete is passing onto our children.” — Wai

There is no charge for the evening. Instead, there will be an opportunity to give on the night to make a vital difference for whānau in 2025.

RSVP now to secure your spot, or contact the team at events@capnz.org or call 09 270 0334.

Additional Information

How much does it cost to attend?

There is no ticket charge for the evening, however there will be an opportunity to give on the night to make a vital difference for whānau in 2025. For catering purposes, please ensure you RSVP for a place for yourself and any friends you are bringing with you.

What will my giving go to?

Your giving will ensure New Zealanders and their families can receive free CAP Debt Help for as long as it takes to become free from unmanageable debt. It costs $46 a month to provide each person in a household with the practical help / wrap-around support they need — to be released from the money chaos and poverty caused by unmanageable debt.

Because each person receives life-transforming help and hope — which impacts them both for now and for their futures – your donations bring a lasting change. Money skills are passed onto tamariki – the next generation of New Zealanders.

Direct costs of providing this free service include:

  • Specialist Advice Team
  • Clients’ Rights Advocacy
  • Creditor Liaison Team
  • Budget Solutions Adviser Team
  • Client Support Team.

In 2020, Impact Lab conducted an independent assessment of CAP’s effectiveness. Impact Lab found that for every $1 invested in CAP Debt Help, the programme delivers $4.90 of social benefit back into communities across Aotearoa. The report also found that CAP Debt Help:

  • Reduces need for emergency benefits
  • Improves physical health and food choices
  • Improves mental health
  • Increases financial resilience and savings
  • Improves relationships.
What makes this event unique?

The Auckland Summer Fundraiser is a relaxed environment, and a chance to connect with people, who like you, are passionate about ending money chaos for whānau in Aotearoa. The limited numbers means you’ll hear first-hand stories and updates from your CAP hosts, and be inspired by CAP clients Wai and Andre’s incredible testimony. What a treat to have them in the room!

Not to mention tasty cheese, desserts and drink! At the end of the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to give to support more families just like Wai and Andre’s – and to be part of what God is doing right here, right now.

Is there parking?

Yes! Mt Albert Baptist Church has free parking onsite.

What can I expect to hear?

Wai and Andre went from having to scrape together enough just to buy milk and bread for their young family, to now educating their children on how to save and be wise with money. They are excited to share some newer updates with us on the night as well!

Your CAP hosts, CEO Sam Garaway, Head of Partner Services and Support Esther Greenwood, and Senior Policy Advisor & Client Services project lead Michael Ward, will provide inspiring updates on what your money is enabling, challenges that New Zealanders are facing right now, and how you can be part of it enabling life-transforming help in Auckland and across the country.
