Life Skills: A friendly, fun community group that empowers people to thrive on a low income.
Many people and families in communities around New Zealand are restricted from full and vibrant lives simply from a lack of good financial literacy and essential life education. CAP Life Skills provides a fun and friendly community for people to belong, and receive the life skills they need to thrive on a low income.
CAP Life Skills gives your church a practical reach to share the love of God, and a practical solution for another key driver of poverty in New Zealand.
CAP Life Skills is built on 3 main components:
A friendly and inclusive community is at the core of Life Skills – often sharing meals and set in a relaxed environment, offering members an opportunity to build relationship and support one another. The welcoming community also provides opportunities for support members from your church to attend, share the love of God, and open the door for members to become part of your wider church community.
The 8-Week course component is designed to be interactive and activities-based containing a mix of smart money tips, better living and building healthy, happy relationships. Sessions and topics can be mixed and matched based on the needs or interests of your group, with all materials, training and ongoing support provided.
The CAP Life Skills Coach provides one-to-one support to members throughout the course giving members individual support, advice and friendship.
The CAP Life Skills team will provide comprehensive training to enable your church member(s) to become CAP Life Skills Coach and help people learn to thrive on a low income. As with every CAP service, your church will receive all the materials and long-term support needed to make this course a success.
And most importantly, by helping and supporting people through your Life Skills group, you and your church will have the chance to welcome new families into your church!
