Below are some frequently asked questions about CAP Centres.
how much does a CAP Centre cost?
The minimum church partnership contribution to CAP is $12,000 annually for a four-session centre. The cost of providing the debt counselling service to CAP is considerably more but CAP is committed to raising the deficit.
can ‘churches together’ run a centre between them?
Our experience over the years has shown it can be complicated for ‘churches together’ to run a CAP centre as there are issues around responsibility for management of the centre, evangelism and discipleship of clients, financial commitment of each church etc. However, obstacles can be overcome and we are willing to talk to churches on a case-by-case basis.
what does CAP’s evangelism look like?
CAP is openly evangelistic and we look to work with churches who share our values. CAP workers from the church have the opportunity to express God’s love to clients, offering prayer and sharing their faith. The church will also welcome CAP clients into their meetings and disciple new Christians.
what makes a great Centre Manager?
Someone with an evangelistic track record who can pioneer a new ministry in your community. They don’t need to have a financial background, but need to be able to understand the prepared budget so that they can explain it to the client.
what about Life Changers?
When you partner with CAP, one of our speakers will come to inspire your church at a Sunday meeting to help you launch your centre. This includes asking people to join us to achieve our goal of 150 centres across the NZ by supporting the charity with a monthly gift through our Life Changer programme. As an evangelistic charity, we rely on our Life Changers as they share our Christian aims. This means we do not have to compromise on our beliefs to obtain funding.
