 I came to CAP about a year ago, and honestly I was just drowning in debt, I couldn’t afford anything. I couldn’t afford to buy food, I was really just getting through week to week and I didn’t have a clue exactly how much money I owed. I was depressed, and it started to affect my health. The stress was making me unwell and I was really struggling.

"Even though I was going to a different church at the time, somehow I heard about CAP and made the call. I was really embarrassed about having to talk to someone about the debt that I was in but I felt good as well, because I knew I was reaching out for help.

CAP has made such a huge difference to my life, I can just call them up and get help anytime I need it, and when things are overwhelming that’s really great. Working with CAP means that I can now afford to buy my son the things he needs, and I’m not as stressed. And when I’m not stressed, he’s not getting stressed, so it’s having a positive effect on him as well. It’s been such a huge relief because I don’t need to worry about any of my bills, and I know it all gets paid at the end of the day. My Centre Manager is really lovely as well.

I go to a church where the people are really lovely. They take my son out to give me a bit of a break, they come by the house and help me to clean up and there’s always a food parcel there if I need it...they’re really lovely.

If I could sum up what CAP has done for me, I would say it’s been life-changing. I’m completely debt-free and it feels like a weight has been taken off my shoulders. Things are getting a lot better in my life now.
