Christians Against Poverty first began 14 years ago in Bradford, England. When John Kirkby first began to go out into his local community, defending the rights of the poor and the oppressed, he scarcely dreamt that CAP would be the international success story which it is today. CAP is now the largest Christian debt-counselling charity in the UK and has won numerous awards for management and leadership. Operating through a network of over 130 churches around the nation, CAP UK helps 13,000 people every year with its unique and specialised financial services, empowering local churches to reach out to their communities.

CAP Australia began in 2000, in Newcastle, NSW. Ten years later, with a network of churches spanning the continent, CAP Australia has helped hundreds of families and seen lives changed forever. With a goal of having at least one CAP Centre in every town and city in Australia by the end of 2021, CAP Australia is a fast-paced, growing organisation and has won several business and community awards.
